About Public Works Experience
Located in the Eastern Avenue Pumping Station which is a working part of Baltimore City’s sanitary sewer system since 1915, the building is a designated landmark, and pumps some 25 million gallons of sewage each day to the Back River Wastewater Treatment Plant.
In 1982, the City's Department of Public Works turned the old boiler room into a public works museum and built Streetscape, where the public could come and see artifacts and learn about public works.
